There was a mistake in scoring at the ISSMA competition in Columbus on April 21. The M.H.S. Concert Band turned in TWO gold rating performances, not one.  Congratulations!

Congratulations to the M.H.S. Advanced Choir and Mixed Show Choir on their gold rating performances at the ISSMA Organizational Festival on April 15.  Great job!

Congratulations to senior Nick Walter, who has been awarded a Lilly Scholarship to attend any college of his choice tuition fee.  He will attend Notre Dame this fall.  Well done, Nick!

Our missed day of school on February 10 will be made up on Monday, May 21.

Here's a summary of the April Board meeting:

 1.  The Board approved the minutes of the March meeting.

 2.  Mrs. Oelker presented the Board with a framed photo from the Tomb of the Unknowns as thanks for the Board's support of the 8th grade Washington trip.  Linda Baker praised Mr. Blankinship for his emphasis on academics with his basketball players.

 3.  The Board approved a revision of the CDL substance abuse policy for bus drivers.

 4.  The Board approved a fundraising request for the football team.

 5.  The Board approved lease agreements for MIST and Red Cross swimming lessons.

 6.  The Board was provided with copies of the three school handbooks for 2012-13 and asked to approve them next month.

 7.  Dr. Reale updated the Board of the progress of the teachers' compensation pilot.

 8.  Dr. Reale informed the Board that Milan had applied for a common school loan to fund the installation of infrastructure in both buildings to make them wireless, with the intent to become a one-to-one school district within three years.

 9.  The Board voted 3-2 not to authorize the hiring of a third assistant football coach.

 10.  The Board approved Rich Healy as middle school boys' track coach and Gayle Healy as middle school girls' track coach.  The Board stated that due to lack of applicants they we making a one-time exception to their practice of not appointing administrators to coaching positions.

 11.  The Board approved the claims and financial report.
