A Day in the Life of a Preschool Student

At Milan Elementary, our goal is for all preschool students to enter kindergarten well-prepared and excited after participating in a curriculum aligned with Indiana’s Early Learning Standards. Students are involved in research-based practices in a fun, engaging curriculum that includes mind-building activities to help children develop social, emotional, and executive functioning skills. Another component of our instruction is helping students build a strong foundation for reading and writing using the Heggerty and Scholastic On Our Way curriculums. Small group learning centers allow students to grow their communication skills and work alongside peers to share, explore, and create.

Students will participate in special area classes like music, library, gym, STEM, and art to help them get acquainted with our school building as well as other teachers they will have in kindergarten and the years following.

Families can complete the Free/Reduced Lunch Application to qualify for free/reduced breakfast and lunch by completing the online application when it opens in the summer of 2025. Student meal costs from the 2024-2025 school year were: Student breakfast costs $1.60, and student lunch costs $2.35. Reduced breakfast costs $0.30, and reduced lunch costs $0.40. Milk costs $0.50.
